Climate change is a major threat to the world today. It is becoming a threat not only to the global environment but also to global security. Climate change will increase tensions and instability in hot zones. Climate change is creating many problems in these areas, including instability, food, housing, and water.
There is undeniable evidence that the average temperature of the Earth is increasing every year due to unnecessary human interference with the natural environment.Climate change captured the attention of the international community at the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century. At that time, all the strategies and efforts of the international community were not focused on dealing with climate change. From America to Africa, climate change has become a major issue that has forced policymakers to think about whether climate change must unite everyone if the world is to maintain security and stability.
As scientists warned in 1988, undue human interference with the natural environment could have serious consequences that are more dangerous than nuclear war.Since then, many scientific studies have emerged that prove that human intervention is damaging the environment. Many world leaders have warned the world that climate change could trigger severe crises with serious consequences for regional and local security, including droughts, famines and weather-related disasters. It can cost the lives of thousands and millions of people. It can increase tensions within and between nations. Climate change is now being considered a security issue around the world. There is evidence around the world that clearly shows the nexus between climate change and security.
Role of climate change in indo-pak conflict
Climate change also plays a major role in the conflicts between India and Pakistan, as India is an upper riparian. Due to this, India is using climate change as a bomb. When there is a drought in the summer season, India stops Pakistan’s water, which affects Pakistan’s agriculture. Similarly, when there is heavy rain, India releases water towards Pakistan, causing huge loss of life and property to Pakistan.
South Sudan conflict
If we trace the roots of the South Sudan conflict, we find that 11 million people have been displaced to date. And when there was a shortage of food and other necessities of life, Resource competition led to conflicts between local tribes.
Integrated solutions of climate change
There are Three types of integrated solutions to counter climate change:
ü Technology
ü Nature
ü Social
Technological Solutions
We should use more and more technologies that are environmentally friendly and also play a key role in controlling pollution. We should move towards renewable energy to generate electricity.Similarly, electric vehicles should be used instead of fuel vehicles. Environmentally friendly technology should be used for sustainable agriculture. Similarly, using AI modeling in industries pollution should be controlled.
Nature based solution
Just as the environment is deteriorating due to human intervention, we must take various steps to restore the environment. By planting more and more trees, we can increase the area of forests, which will help in combating climate change will be significantly reduced. We should plant as many trees as possible in the streets of cities, outside homes, and along the roads. On the one hand, humans and animals will benefit from this, and on the other hand, climate change will be reduced.
Social solutions
To solve climate change, which is currently the world’s biggest problem, public awareness campaigns should be launched to raise awareness among the public about its effects and how to counter it.Because this is a problem that cannot be solved at the government level alone, but for this, the government, institutions and the public will have to work together. Governments should form various committees at the public level,Which should create awareness among the public regarding climate change in their respective areas and take practical steps. These committees should be sponsored at the government level.
